What is CSV Viewer?

Free online CSV viewer to upload or paste CSV data and view it in a clean, interactive table with sorting, filtering, and search capabilities.

The tool auto-detects delimiters (comma, semicolon, tab), handles quoted fields, and supports large datasets. Sort any column ascending or descending, filter rows by value, and search across all columns. Open a CSV file online without Excel, view a TSV or semicolon-separated export, or inspect a large CSV that crashes a spreadsheet app. Handy for reading a database dump, checking a data export before import, or viewing a CSV on a phone. All data stays in your browser. No signup required.

How to Use CSV Viewer

1Upload a CSV file using the file picker or paste CSV data directly into the text area
2The tool auto-detects the delimiter and displays your data in a table
3Click column headers to sort, or use the filter fields to narrow down rows
4Use the search box to find specific values across all columns

Frequently Asked Questions

What CSV formats are supported?

The viewer supports standard CSV files with comma, semicolon, tab, or pipe delimiters. It auto-detects the delimiter in most cases. Quoted fields (including fields with commas or newlines inside quotes) are handled correctly according to RFC 4180.

How large a CSV file can I view?

The tool can handle CSV files up to several megabytes with thousands of rows. Since all processing happens in your browser, performance depends on your device. For very large files, the table renders rows efficiently to maintain smooth scrolling.

Can I sort and filter the data?

Yes. Click any column header to sort the table by that column (ascending or descending). Use the filter inputs above each column to filter rows by specific values. A global search box lets you find data across all columns at once.

Is my CSV data uploaded to a server?

No. Your CSV data is processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded to any server. This makes the tool safe for viewing sensitive business data, personal records, or proprietary datasets.

Can I open a CSV without Excel or a spreadsheet app?

Yes. The viewer renders your CSV as a sortable, filterable table right in the browser, so you do not need Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets installed. It also works on a phone or tablet where a full spreadsheet app may not be available.

Does it work with TSV or semicolon-separated files?

Yes. The tool auto-detects tab, semicolon, comma, and pipe delimiters. If a file uses an unusual separator and the columns look wrong, you can switch the delimiter manually to parse it correctly.
